About Me

Philosophy

I have been passionate about the theory and practice of psychotherapy for decades, and I am so grateful to be able to do this work that I love. I know from my own experience in psychotherapy how transformative therapy can be, well worth the effort, time, and expense. My philosophy of life is that we are here to live and love as best we can. Therapy has helped me to live and love better. I believe that no matter what you are facing or how broken you feel, you can get through it and thrive. I would love to help.

Training

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia with a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Utah. I continuously pursue professional development, primarily in AEDP with the AEDP Institute, and in Attachment-Focused EMDR with the Parnell Institute . These activities include conferences, experiential workshops, peer consultation groups, and consultation with experts in these areas.

Personal

In addition to professional continuing education, I am grateful to have relationships and interests that nurture and support me. These include my family, friends, and pets; the joy of physical movement (walking, hiking, yoga, dancing); awe-inspiring art (live music, sculpture, ballet); and a daily practice of meditation. Although I enjoy the woods, the ocean fills my soul the best.
